Cell Phone Plans

Cell phone plans: How to choose the right one

Intelligence is needed by most for finding the cell phone plan that is right so as to avoid unnecessary expenses. Before deciding a cell phone plan, it would be very wise to assess and research the different offers because of the very large number of network services that are available in the market.

First of all, we need to decide if we want a prepaid cell phone service or a traditional cell phone plan. For a prepaid cell phone service, we just need to pay outright and then we have our phone. There are some cell phone companies, which even offer a free cell phone when we buy a prepaid cell phone service from them. This is very much affordable by the common people. However, whenever we want the best cell phone plan, we should choose from by-minute charging or by the second charging though both the charging have both positive and negative points.

Before we decide on a cell phone plan we must assess our usage frequency and requirements. It is necessary to find out if they have enough towers to reach us, wherever we are. Different cell phone plans are there for family, regional and national use. We need to check what minimum commitment is required before we compare cell phone plans. Most of the cell phones require a commitment for one year, which means that we cannot change the cell phone carriers until the one-year contract has elapsed. Some carriers may even require a greater commitment as much as two years also. If we have a really good pricing then this may be acceptable to us. But again if we find the service is not good and we want to change our provider we will have to pay a hefty amount for that and if we refuse to pay then it might affect our credit report.

We should always compare cell phone plans from all the major cell phone carriers. Most cell phone plans will have a brand of cell phones, which will suit our needs, but we need to choose the plan, which is best, suited to us. There are many cell phone plans which will allow us to change our plan mid contract as long as we remain with them as the provider. So, this can be beneficial to start off with a lower plan that will not give us a lot of minutes per month but is very inexpensive and economical. Based on our actual history of use we need to adjust the plan up and down as we use our phone.

Cell phone plans like family plans are beneficial for family and small business uses. For emergencies there is a free access. In addition to family plans it is cheaper to call other cell phones included in one billing. Discounts for airtime usage of family members using this cell phone plan are also there. Free long-distance charges and no roaming charges are included in national cell phone plans. Regional cell phone plans may include the long distance charges but the airtime rates may be cheaper.

Prepaid cell phone plans are more preferred but for travelers the traditional plans with no roaming charges and no long-distance charges are more beneficial. Some companies will require a two-year contract or to sign a one-year. We will get to learn how many times the company will allow us to change our plan without charging any fee.
